The end of another year is upon us and I can’t believe it has been more than 6 months since I last logged on, yet alone posted anything. So for old times sake I thought what the hell, it’ll be interesting to see what I think of this in a few months/years/whenever I come around to checking it again. Why the title you might think? Well I think its an appropriate assessment in terms of timeframe of who I currently am.

2011 has been the best year ever period. None of the previous years can top it and if I go by the bell curve theory, I haven’t even hit the peek yet (so yes I’m definitely looking forward to the next few years). It stands out because Ive managed to cross so many things off my to do list in life and no, I don’t literally have a list. Lets start with moving out and having my own place, best feeling ever running my own joint the way I want and organising it the way I like it. This wouldn’t be possible without the awesome job that I have giving me great opportunities and benefits – who doesn’t like getting paid to keep fit and doing crazy random stuff more often than a desk jockey. What office worker gets to do there job and then go for a swim in the creek with mates and then goes back to work haha. It’s because of exactly that that I have been able to achieve adrenalin junky experiences such as FWDing in insane terrain where literally the ground dissappears and you drop 1-2 metres and go flying up to then have to floor it on a 45 degree angle or else the lack of momentum will cause the vehicle to roll sideways. Or getting paid to travel throughout Australia checking out the scenery and getting to floor it in order to pass a convoy of 5 road trains where your max speed is only restricted by the length of the straight. Rally driving, fwd driving, track I can cross you all off the list. Which brings me to my beautiful Thunder ute aka Thor birthday on 23rd June. Can’t believe I’m lucky enough to have this as my first car and paid it all myself, no handouts here people. If it wasn’t for the warranty, this would be another money sink similar to my baby blade which sadly I haven’t used as much as I could. I’ve also met some amazing people that have taught me alot about life, kudos to you lot – and an even greater bunch that stick around with me.

To put things into perspective I’ll quickly say why the previous 4 years where ‘different’ to 2011. Thinking back to 2007, I was abit like a lost sheep without any direction to what my end goal or future goals were. Tried several times and couldn’t get into the whole Uni studying thing. Just worked my then two jobs to get cash etc. Now 2008 was when I had an idea of trying to work my hobby of designing/art/computers etc. into a qual for a job. In the process of that I managed to also create some fond memories which has taught me alot. 2009 was probably the worst year out of the five, lost my focus, failed attempt at a job and it took well into 2010 before I picked up my act and did what was needed to worry about myself, I had alot to think about during that period. It was just after mid 2010 that I took the best thing to happen to me and jumped into it 100%, there was one slight hurdle that came up that I had to squish to protect my new career path, I was pressured to go further but decided against that – instead to just focus on the fond stuff and continue onwards to the most amazing year, and my paragraph above doesn’t do it justice to the amount of awesome stuff thats happened. During 2010 I did several job interviews, went to round twos but I got pulled away before I could finalise any of them and I’m not upset about it in the least.

So now as I sit here typing away listening to the firecrackers been set of in anticipation for new years eve celebrations in the suburbia tomorrow, it took me 5 years to finally make something life changing that I’m really happy about and taking it day by day – living in the now. I’m sure others have done it quicker, perhaps even longer but the ability to accomplish some life goals really does feel good. To try and fail is better to not have tried at all especially when you succeed, I’m proud to say I gave everything in life so far my all that led me to this point in time and I’ll continue to do that, I’m consistent.

Remember to smell the Roses, look at the sky, fall in love, laugh at myself, take my problems with a grain of salt because they are always going to be there. Take the time you need to think things through and confront your problems without stressing yourself out.
