As off 5:50pm I have to say this is an awkward moment watching Richmond win their first match of the season against Port Adelaide. Who would have thought… 47 point victory should boost the spirits till next week.

Project Brief/direction
Unlike the current generation website, LC3 is less to do with a design face lift and more towards a community driven and interactive site experiment. What makes a community interactive website I believe is a shift in focus to key areas that will allow growth and discussion – essentially the ‘GAMES WE PLAY’ and ‘COMMENTS/FEEBACK’ of the site. So all design changes are attempting to reflect this change in focus beginning with a more prominent games we play section.
Unlike the current model we have, the system will be changed to display the game icons as usual but more details are easily accessed by simply clicking one with a lightbox/overlay with the related information available. Quick easy access to feedback that can have small brief user feedback on their experience and rating.
News posts of articles become minimal with the main page focusing more on the comments and feedback given by the community. An example would be displaying only the title, date, short excerpt and underneath a facebook style comments system to status updates. Full articles and posts are visible by simply clicking the link with a lightbox/overlay presenting the information quickly. Quick easy access to leave feedback and access to the article is simplified but the main article is not the focus itself.

Haven’t really written or posted much lately, other things on my mind I guess. One of them been tomorrow which I am nervous about and feeling under prepared for it all. Feeling nervous is normal but i just keep getting that feeling where at the end of it all I’ll get the reassess a few things and try again at a later stage reply like so many other times before. Probably overthinking this one.
Went and played with my bike in the garage to take my mind of everything, I had to fix one of the brackets that held up the upper cowl since it snapped off. Two pieces of steel welded on and measured to the right specs and it is like brand new, even with a touch of black spray paint. Will be good when my new fairings are finally ready, still waiting on Simon to give me a range of sample greens.
Alot of stupid stories today about ‘hackers gaining access to vehicle ECUs to kill brakes, engines etc. The “hackers” did nothing scary whatsoever. Every page I’ve seen this on, including Gizmodo, Slashdot, HardOCP, PC World, and even Fox News and CNN has the story completely wrong (because the real story is boring.)
The researchers connected an OBD-II interface to the car, and in turn connected it to a laptop, which streamed the connection wirelessly. They were able to use the OBD-II system (on a Chevrolet Impala) to override the car’s systems. This should be a shock, because the OBD-II system is designed to function like that.
Unlike what every major news outlet is reporting, the “researchers” needed physical access to the car, and they needed to leave large amounts of powered gear IN THE CAR in order to be able to control it. Hardely a “discreet hack.”
The crux of it? Read this quote from the actual study:
“In this paper we intentionally and explicitly skirt the question of a “threat model.” Instead, we focus primarily on what an attacker could do to a car if she was able to maliciously communicate on the car’s internal network. That said, this does beg the question of how she might be able to gain such access.”
That’s right, they intentionally “skirt the question” of how the hell anyone could possibly do this without first being in the car. So, obviously, every news network is running the story as if they have done exactly that, because it’s more exciting. Who cares that it’s totally untrue and misleading. Sorry to disappoint.
World cup 2010 is just around the corner. Looking forward to bringing out the socceroos top I have. Happy that the bombers beat the Saints by 12 points, haven’t really payed much attention to AFL lately and cant be bothered doing my tips anymore.

What is motivating you to apply for this job?
My motivations for applying as a GSO in the Army are that it is a challenge I’d like to tackle, an experience that will teach me a lot and shape my character, that I have the qualities and abilities to help me succeed in such a position, the ability to represent my country which has provided a lot for me.
Have you thought about your personal qualities and attributes and how they make you suitable for your preferred job?
I feel that I have the patience, focus and determination, dedication, willingness to put in hard work and effort, flexibility to accommodate needs, professionalism and attention to detail. The ability to fit in within are range of groups/teams and including working alone, and a positive attitude towards challenge. I feel these are qualities and attributes that show leadership potential within myself.
What are the qualities of a leader?
A leader does not hesitate to make timely decisions in challenging and adverse situations, as well as providing support and confidence to others to affect a successful outcome, a leader will remain focused and determined to bring tasks to completion, and does not neglect any person or element of a task which is important to success.
What is your understanding of the Combat Role and are you aware that all ADF members receive weapons training?
My understanding of the Combat Role is that despite my Corp or position I am a soldier first and foremost in the Australian Army and that I will be required to use a weapon or be deployed if the situation dictates it as necessary to serve the interests of the Army and Australia which may include engaging hostiles.
Have you considered what affect the ADF service lifestyle might have on you and your family?
Yes I have. As with everything, time will be needed to adjust to the lifestyle but keeping myself occupied and focused on my training and duties will help to alleviate homesick feelings that I may have. My family will definitely be concerned and it will be a change for them as well not having me around to rely on but they are confident, understanding, and positive about my application and potential employment with the Defence Force.
